Description

Hi, this is the 2nd version of the Impreza. It's well worth the download, since it's 100% improved over the original. Updates:

- Bodylines are thinner;

- Tires are flatter;

- Moved some badges closer to the car's body;

- Tail light dummy was moved and had its color changed;

- The engine sound is completely new (much more aggressive), it is now taken directly from NFSMW;

- Added blow off valve sound from NFSMW when you shift (just mixed together the shifting and the blow off sounds);

- I've made a hood cam which works as a dashboard;

- The driver animation is more realistic;

- Slightly lower top speed (behaves more like the original car now);

- More colors to choose from.

    Thank you Mike, I wanted to release it earlier but I was doing other stuff (mainly personal matters and doing my own modifications to some addons).

    However this file I sent you still has a small bug... The horn's pitch is too high. If I send you an updated file, will you replace this one with it for me? Because I'd like to upload it to NFSCars as well and don't want this site to have an older version than the one available there.

    Yeah, definitely. You can email me (mike[AT]nfsg.net) or you can upload it to the site again and I will switch the files.

    Thanks!

    Good work, don't like the driver.The symetrical wheels rotate, this used to be a problem in NFS4

    Hehe the driver sucks but it was the only way I could include one without asking for permission from someone. I've made him blonde because I'm a blonde guy myself.

    BTW I wonder why this is rated with an 8 while version 1 has a grade of 9... That one sucks compared to this.

    Looks like this one is up to 9 :)

    I'm willing to bet a lot of people just rate based on the screenshot :(

    Yeah, in screenshot it looks similar to the old one (only the bodyline update shows). Since we don't have a WAV player in the screenshot section, people also don't get to know the sounds before they download.

    I took the liberty of replacing the bigger screenshot with a few shots of my own , because I felt that the detail in this model warranted a closer look. The bodylines and textures look amazing close up...
    I hope that´s okay.

    Great shots, Remko! I think I need a PC upgrade, NFS4 looks way better in your machine than it does on mine.

    Also, this track (Cliffside Rally) is great as a background.

    BTW why were Dodge Boy's cars removed from the site (namely the Trans Am and the Mustang SVT Cobra)? Some of his models can still be found on a few other sites, but not these. I have the Mustang, but it would be safer to see the car available online.

    Glad you like it, I got a new PC in April that helped in running NFS4 with full anti-aliasing, heh.

    Actually, Dodge Boy asked to have his cars removed from this site as well as from NFSCars. I don't know about other sites, could be DB wasn't aware of those. I think his motivation was the constant car stealing & converting going on in several modding communities.
    Always a shame when it comes to that, but we have to respect the authors' wishes.

    Yeah this is sad... Misbehavior only leads to undesirable solutions like VIV locking, and makes the author lose motivation to keep editing.

    I personally didn't care much about securing my VIV against thieves (not that I know to do it) and requiring permission for mods, because I thought of the Impreza as a "service" to the community (which had no quality version of this car up to May), and the car isn't mine anyway. However, it takes much time and effort to build a car from scratch, and the authors don't want non-trustable people to have access to their cars. This leads them to lock the files.

    I dislike locked VIVs (can't make custom sounds...) but, with CarChecker, which allows performance/FEDATA editing without granting access to the mesh, the fact that the file is locked is of less importance.

    Anyway, the only car which I was concerned about was the Mustang (which is part of my collection), since the Trans Am from the F-Body Faction beats Dodge Boy's in every aspect.

    I still don't understand the fact that Dodge Boy still made his police cars (and the Eleanor) downloadable from other sites, though.

    Another problem with locking cars is that it's ineffective. I have very little experience with programming, yet I've found out the way to bypass some VIV locks with ease. Not to mention that many locks have breaches in them. So, for an author who is very protective of his work and cannot stand seeing his cars being stolen, removing them from the internet might be the only option.

    I like Butch's position on this matter. By not allowing conversions, thefts are much less difficult to spot. Plus, the gameplay and the functioning of the game aren't compromised by some faulty lock (like I've seen happening many times).

    Great new screens, Remko.

    Zpectre, great commentary on the VIV locking. I know how hard it is to create a car, since I've tried (and failed miserably) in the past, so I can understand why Dodge Boy was upset about his cars getting stolen. It would make more sense if he as charging money for his cars though. But I respect his decision which is why his cars aren't showing up here.

    I like the fact that you realize you are doing a service to the community. Hopefully we get to see some more cars from you!

    I was thinking about converting the Porsche Carrera GT or the Street BMW M3 GTR from MW (now that I've got some more free time) but the textures kinda puzzled me... Another possibility is the Porsche 911 Carrera RS from NFSPU, which, albeit a low poly model, puts little stress on todays computers and can be used for online mods. Besides, the 356/901/993 are the most accurate cars in PU and I'm sure one of them would look good in NFS4.

    The more conversions from newer NFS versions the better, in my opinion. NFSG is, and likely always will be, an NFS:HS site first (unless, lets hope, EA comes out with HS2 and doesn't screw it up).

    I imagine it is easier than scratch-building a car also. A C6 Z06 would be nice too ;)
