Description

    The ultimate road car

    I was inspired to do this car after seeing rata536's replacements for the other NFS3's vehicles, even asking him for the help on how to do a few of the elements.

    Features:

    • 3134 poiles in total; with all LODs combined;
    • --1674 polies for high body;
    • --936 polies for medium body;
    • --512 polies for low body;
    • --12 polies for tiny body (colision);
    • 10 colors (official);
    • Sounds from NFS2 (thanks to rata536);
    • Multi-language support;
    • Showcase with full narration (thanks to G.L.97 for the audio files);
    • Alternate loading slide compatible with rata536 loading slides:

    https://www.nfsaddons.com/downloads/nfshp/bootscreens/6648/consistent-race-slides-pack.html

    • Car compare slide, with support for G.L.97 and Schnoobler add-ons.

    Installation:

    • Backup your files first;
    • Open your Need for Speed III directory;
    • Copy the 'MCF1' folder to "Data/Cars";
    • Copy the "FeData" items to the "FeData" folder, confirm to replace the "COMPARE.qFS" and "COMPARE.FSH" files;
    • Copy one of the "03_00.qFS" files to "FeData/Slides" (rename "03_00 (PS1 style).qFS" to simply "03_00.qFS" if you're using rata536's loading slides);
    • Run the game and select the desired vehicle.

    Notes:

    • When using the car, the AI is prone to crash around the course in high speeds;
    • The car has optional CARHD.TGA and CARGAR.TGA texture files, the latter used with 256x256 resolution like the vanilla cars, and CARHD.TGA being a backup copy of CAR00.TGA's 512x512 default texture for the car.

    Credits:

    • rata536 - NFS2 and custom assets, and guidance with this mod;
    • DMN - Real Racing 3 textures;
    • G.L.97 - McLaren menu background, adding F1 to the comparison menu, and help with the showcase audio;
    • AJ_Lethal - NFSHS CARP Editor, used as a base, before tweaking the CARP for NFS3 with rata's help;
    • Meteor/OD2011 - small guidance with the showcase files;
    • Schnoobler - help and small contributions with the mod.

      Nice car and thanks for your work, but why do you use medium, low and tiny bodies?

      You have a record with 8 updates in 5 months:).

      How can it be that 512x512 textures in nfs3 gives better quality in game?, This is not the case in nfs4.

      Compared 256x256 and 512x512 textures "in game" but I don't see the difference. I have used VEG patch with nglide driver.

        You have to open the NFS3.ini and change "AllowHugeTextures=0" to "AllowHugeTextures=1" ;)

        Hmmm... I just tried all the 512x512px cars myself for the first time... of course with Vegs patch... and I can´t get the huge texture support to work as well. I even tried all the different renderers and Keikos Launcher, too. No luck. What a pitty :(

        Ahh... I played around a little more and have to say that on my system the "huge texture support" DOES work in "dgvoodoo" mode. But only in the race and not in the menus. But since "nglide" is the only mode that supports desktop resolution and antialiasing in the cars menu I sadly have to live with the standard resolution of 256x256. Too bad

      Masterful work on this, right up there with rata_536's cars and probably the most accurate F1 body available anywhere for the vintage NFS games.

      If I had one nit to pick, it's that the road-going F1 doesn't have deep-dish wheels like what's on this model - and it's the only thing that throws me off.  The wheel texture is spot-on, but the profile at both front & rear should look like how you did the front wheels of your F50 (with just a very thin lip).

      If that's an update you could make, it would be a big improvement.  Cheers!
