Description
A mod for NFS High Stakes that adds more car brands to the cop speech (English version only).
The speech works on the nfs3 tracks (Hometown, Atlantica, Redrock Ridge, etc).
The following makes/brands have been added:
- Countach (from nfs3)
- Dodge
- Ford
- Scighera (from nfs3)
- Skyline
- Spectre (from nfs3)
Additionally, a generic description (car) has been done as an alternative to the default 'sports car' speech. If you want to use this speech file for the default, copy the IPSPCHE.viv file found in the 'Car' folder of this mod to your NFS High Stakes Directory \Data\Audio\SFX. Now you can use the 'sports car' speech for an actual sports car (like the La Niña!).
To hear the correct speech for a specific car, copy the appropriate Ipspche.viv file from this mod to your 'NFS High Stakes Directory\Data\Cars\XXXX' where 'XXXX' is the folder of the car you wish to use the speech file with.
PLEASE NOTE that you must have installed either Veg's Modern Patch or the High Poly Patch for this mod to work. You will experience crashes if you don't.
IF you are using Veg's Modern Patch, please navigate to your NFS High Stakes Directory and open the 'nfs4.ini' file. Make sure that the following parameter is set:
OwnHeapLimitMb=512

Any idea why this only works for NFS3 routes?
If you try to use these files with any other routes, the cops' voices will switch accents, because EA made other routes use different voice actors/accents.
NFS3 routes use IPSPCHE.viv.
Celtic Ruins and Durham use IPSPCHNB.VIV and IPSPCHAB.VIV
NFS4 routes use IPSPCHAE.VIV and IPSPCHNE.VIV.
I do plan to expand the speech for the nfs4 tracks as well for both British and alternative English accents.

The speech files are uncompressed which results in a bigger file size that the game has to load, which can result in crashes. The modern patches prevent this from happening.
Until we know what method EA used to compressed their .bnk files, we will have to cope with the large file sizes.
Note that the car speech alone won't require 512mb of RAM, 64 will do fine. The Ukranian translation mod requires 512MB because ALL of the audio is uncompressed.
We know the method EA used to compress the bnk files, it's MicroTalk (mt_blk) but the output is broken on the version of sx.exe that we have (much later than the game's release). Perhaps an even older version would work fine, but we have to find it.

I have already completed 3 more brands, but there are much, much more I plan on doing, which is why this mod will be updating regularly.
I love MW05 and had tons of fun playing it back in the day. Still play it occasionally when I feel like messing with the "rhino" and "zulu" units in my Camaro ss.
However, I never studied the game structure well enough to start modding for it. Up to now I only made mods for HS. So I'm sorry I can't quite help you with that.
I don't know. I only used Vivmagic to unpack and repack the viv files.
NFS Wizard is unstable for me, so I only use it as a last resort.
I seen this when, it was first released bud Zalcus20 😄 I'm going to get this update at the library Wi-Fi save my data. I haven't tried it yet, but I want to. I'm so glad your helping ole HS to be better! Thanks young friend here. Good luck & week with updates. 📱💨😊😶🌫️
